Two Chinese Hanging Scroll Paintings
Qing dynasty (1644-1912), 18th or 19th century, includes two hanging scrolls, the first ink and colors on silk, with an elegantly dressed lady sitting at a natural rook rock desk in a wooded and lush landscape, an imperial style collector seal to upper center of painting, red seal to lower left and right corners, mounted on silk and brocade, with wooden rollers (DOA 88 x 19 5/8 in.) (good estate condition; some losses to pigments or possible repainting to figure), and the second ink and ink wash on silk, a mountainous landscape with villages and a few figures on a bridge and a boat, signed to upper right together with two red artist's seals (DOA 51 x 18 1/4 in.) (losses to mount so no longer attached to hanger; duck tape to bottom roller of scroll; some creasing and small losses to silk ground; silk is toned; some cracking to silk, repairs, and staining to mainly to upper and lower portion of painting; brocade mount is loosening; one knob os missing).
