Eminent Victorians Autograph album containing approx. 120 letters, clipped signatures and signed sentiments (mainly complete letters), including woman writers (Mary Louisa Molesworth, Beatrice Harraden, Mary Hawker, Sarah Doudney etc.), other authors and artists (Anthony Hope, Israel Zangwill, Edward J. Poynter, Jerome K. Jerome, John Tenniel, etc.), suffragette Helen Blackburn, numerous aristocrats (the 8th and 9th dukes of Argyll, Viscount Castlereagh, etc.), and Indian interest including Gholam Mohumed (1795-1872, son of Tipu Sultan; autograph letter signed, to 'My respected freind [sic]', dated Russpugla [Tollygunge], 1868, 3 pp.) and a letter signed apparently from Krishnaraja Wadiyar III (1794-1868, maharaja of Mysore to L. B. Bowring, commissioner of Mysore, dated Palace, Mysore, 1866, 3 pp.). Together with: a similar album including aristocrats and politicians (e.g. Palmerston, Rosebery, Lauderdale, etc., these mainly clipped signatures), and various others including traveller and author Constance Gordon-Cumming (complete letter, undated, 4 pp.), and banker Thomas Coutts (complete letter on the purchase of navy bills, 1782, 2 pp.), etc., spine defective, lacking front board; and approx. 50 further autographs (mainly complete letters, all loose), including aristocrats and politicians (e.g. Lord Dalhousie, governor-general of India), bishops (e.g. John Colenso, bishop of Natal, 1863), and others (quantity)
