Two Egyptian stone bowls
Early Dynastic Period, circa 3000-2650 B.C.
Both mottle grey and white and of shallow form, with a slightly flattened base, a wheel-cut band around the tondo and in-turned rim, 30.5cm and 31cm diam

These similarly formed bowls, while of differing recent origins, share similar structures of veining, indicating they came from the same original geological source.

Condition
Bowl, 33cm diam.:
Repaired from approx. 10 large fragments, with some infill and consolidation along the repair lines. There is an area of restoration near the rim, approx. 6cm. x 7.5cm. There is another smaller area of restoration and consolidation to a repaired area at the rim. There is some overall surface wear including chipping and scratching. There is a larger chip to the rim, 4cm long.
Bowl with part missing rim:
The bowl is repaired from large fragments (approx. 8 pieces). There are two sections of the rim missing: approx. 5cm long and 23cm long. There is some overall surface wear including pitting and scratching and some superficial hairline cracking, with some chips along the repair lines.
