The original Playbill, with ticket stub attached, from the closing night of the original production of Follies on July 1st, 1972 at the Winter Garden Theater on Broadway. The cover is signed in ink by Stephen Sondheim, Dorothy Collins, Alexis Smith and Gene Nelson. Accompanied by a letter of provenance from the current consignor describing the final performance and receiving the autographs. Minor signs of handling, stub stapled to upper corner, fine overall.

Follies, Stephen Sondheim's seventh Broadway production, opened on April 4th, 1972 and was directed by Harold Prince with choreography by Michael Bennett. At the time, the production was the second-most costly performed on Broadway and, despite winning seven Tony Awards and running for over 500 performances, ultimately lost its entire investment when it closed that July. Recollections of this now legendarily lavish production were recorded in Ted Chapin's memoir Everything Was Possible. In the fifty years since that July 1971 closing night, Follies has been revived numerous times and many of its songs have become standards, including "Broadway Baby" and "Too Many Mornings."
