Description
A Chinese gilt lacquer wooden Guanyin figure, dating from the Ming dynasty (1368-1644). Guanyin figure is seated upright with straight back and hands folded in lap in deep meditation. Rectangular opening in back of Guanyin with pieces of cloth wrapped in twine. Remnants of red paint over the faded gilt paint in some areas. The crossed legs are attached to the body and are a separate piece of wood. crystal in center of the forehead preserved well
