This relief is a smaller version of the decorative panel Picaud ("Pico" pseudonymously) created for the facade of the Folies Bergère in Paris in 1926. The famed Russian dancer Lila Nikolska (1904-1955) posed for the design.
Frame: 29 1/4 x 28 7/8 x 1 1/2 in. Overall in very good condition; panel is laid down on board and secure; one diagonal hairline crack approximately 4 in. long radiating inward from lower right corner; overall light wear and minor chips to edges of relief; earlier gilding mainly visible at edges, extensive overpainting.
