NEW YORK FIGURAL FOLK ART PAINTED SHEET-IRON RESTAURANT SIGN, on a wooden frame, depicting a school house with chimney, lettered "Brick School / Tea House / Luncheon Dinner / 500 Feet". Retains original dry painted surface. Circa 1940. 54 1/4" H, 63 1/2" W.
Provenance: From a New England collection.
Catalogue Note: The Brick School Tea House was located 1 1/2 miles south Kinderhook, NY on US Route 9. It was known in the 1940s for serving Viennese specialties and making bread from stone-ground floor.
