J. E. B. STUART (1833-1864) AUTOGRAPH LETTER SIGNED, single page ink on paper, from Fort Leavenworth, Kansas Territory, June 21st, 1855, informing his father of his promotion, in part "Col. Sumner has honored me with the appointment of Regimental Quartermaster, for one so young in the service it is certainly a high compliment, and although when he asked me if I would accept it I frankly told him I knew nothing about the duties, he desired me to accept assuring me I would soon learn. I am determined to spare no effort to prove myself worthy of his confidence, besides he appointed me Commissary of the Post and Post Treasure.", signed "In haste, your aff.
