8vo. Publisher's tan cloth, pictorial dust jacket. Cloth heavily sunned on spine, chipping to cloth at both spine ends, jacket sunned, rubbed, chipped at both spine ends, large chip at top edge of front panel into first letter of title.
FIRST EDITION, INSCRIBED AND SIGNED BY WEST TO PHILIP WYLIE on the front free endpaper: 'To Sally and Phil — Affectionately / Pep / Nathanael West.' Philip Wylie was most famously the author of Generation of Vipers,' but was well known for his commentary on a variety of subjects. 'Pep' was the nickname given to West ironically in his younger years for his reported lack of vigor and ability at sports.
