Description
DESCRIPTION: Pair of 18th Century Chinese export armorial plates with circular forms. The dishes are enamelled and gilt to the centre with the arms of (Sichterman of Groningen) showing a squirrel in profile eating a nut, the rim with blue floral sprays and scholarly objects. Manufactured for Jan Albert Sichterman of Groningen who was the director for the Dutch East India Company from (1716 to 1744) and Governor of Bengal. He eventually returned to the Netherlands, where he lived in a house on the Ossenmarkt in Groningen.
CIRCA: 18th Cent. Yongzheng-Early Qianlong Period.
