Description
Right:A cast bronze war axe head featuring a long, undecorated, cylindrical shaft and the flattened blade, drawn out from the top of the shaft, broadens out towards the cutting edge which is slightly convex. Middle:The blunt, narrow head is for piercing armor to inflict serious injury in combat, not for cutting. By this time bronze and leather armor was being employed requiring weapons to defeat it. left: double axe-head cast in bronze. The weapon features an undecorated, a flattened top with a vertical crescent shaped blade with sides that broaden out towards the cutting edge and a smaller horizontal blade to the back. Including custom made stands. Good condition. Provenance:Property of a gentleman acquired in Holliday In coin fair London after 2000s . Ex UK art market since 1990s. Size: left to right 16 cm x 12 cm x 10 cm (length).
