A Northwest Coast bentwood box
Possibly Tlingit, of rectangular form, with painted formline animals on each face, including a beaver, a frog and two others, the tapering lid with inset operculum shells on its face, with pigment loss and areas of overpaint; base replaced.

Condition
The underside replaced. Scattered scuffs, scratches, wear, liquid drips, and pigment loss commensurate with age. Nine inlaid shells lost; others with cracks, losses, an/or abrasions. Wear troughout, more prominently along the edges/orners of the body and the lid. An approximately 1 1/2in x 1in hole/loss in one lower corner.
