(2) Antique U.S. military swords, 1849 and 1865, Includes US Model 1840 NCO sword and sheath, the blade stamped "US WD" on one side and "Ames Mfg. Co Cabotville 1849" on the other, with all brass handle, 32"l (blade), 39"l (overall, in sheath); with, U.S. Model 1860 cavalry saber and sheath, the blade stamped "US G.K.C. 1865" on one side and "Made by Ames Mfc Co" on the other, with leather and brass wire grip, brass pommel and guard, the pommel stamped "G.K.C" on the end, 34"l (blade), 42.5"l (overall, in sheath)

Condition
Good/Fair, the saber with worn stamping, wire wrapping on grip loose, the sheath with overall oxidation, the blade dull with small nicks and some pitting at the point end; the sword blade with a sharper edge, small nicks, the sheath with dented and cracked brass end cover; both show age and handling **Condition reports are rendered as specialist opinion by the staff of the Auction House and not as statements of fact.
