Carle Michel Boog (American, 1877-1967) artist. Original watercolor on paper painting of harbor. Signature present on bottom right corner "Carle Michel Book 1923". Sealed in frame. Mat has yellowing and a scratch in glass of frame. Brown spots are present on top and bottom sides of painting.Carle Michel Boog (1877-1966) Born in Lucerne, Switzerland. Studied in Paris with Bonnat and exhibited in the 1904 Paris Salon. Soon afterwards he emigrated to the United States and studied at the Arts Students League in New York. By 1908 he made Brooklyn, New York his home and was a member of the Salmagundi Club, the American Watercolor Society, the Allied American Artists, and the Society of American Artists. He was a WPA artist who did murals of New York City. In addition, he was also known for his outdoor watercolors and oil paintings of New York parks and cityscapes. He also had a career as an illustrator of children's books. (Artnet)
