ARCHAISTIC COLLECTION
觚以銅為胎，仿商周青銅出戟方觚形制，呈四方形，敞口，長頸，方形腹鼓，高足外撇，四面出戟，飾以扉棱。通體施天藍色琺瑯釉地，以掐金絲技法勾勒，內填各色琺瑯彩，掐絲生動，紋飾華美。整體紋飾分為四部分，口內壁滿飾纏枝蓮紋，枝蔓層層纏繞，疏密有致，花瓣翻卷，輕盈舒展自如，極為華麗；頸及足上下飾一朵盛開的纏枝蓮紋；面為V 形相對變形夔龍紋向外伸展，風格雅致清麗；腹飾變形饕餮紋，似有法度森嚴之感。
觚始於殷商，原為飲酒之器，後期成為皇室祭天奉祖重要禮器。宋明以降，花道興盛，青銅觚為瓶花之佳器，深得士人推崇。明袁宏道《瓶史》記述：「嘗見江南人家所藏舊觚，青翠入骨，砂斑垤起，可謂花之金屋。」因此，觚不獨作為陳設器，更多是以供花之用。當時講究折枝瘦巧，不宜繁雜，宜插一種，多則二種，須分高下合插，儼若一枝天生且二色方美。觚口外撇較甚，插花散漫不佳，因而須打套管入內，收口作小孔，以管束花枝，不令斜倒。據《清宮內務府造辦處檔案》乾隆二十四年，琺瑯作：「十月十八日接得郎中達子來說太監胡世傑，傳旨著做掐絲琺瑯美人觚一件，四方出戟花觚一件。」這種銅胎掐絲琺瑯花觚在清代已由祭祀禮器演變為案頭陳設器。如北京故宮博物院庋藏清乾隆〈掐絲琺瑯獸面紋出戟方觚〉及本件清乾隆〈銅胎掐絲琺瑯獸面紋出戟方觚〉，皆是在形制上仿古彝器並加以創新。細審本品，藍本取自欽定四庫全書－西清古鑑、卷二十三．商〈若癸觚〉圖譜，器型和紋飾雖多有增減，但著重仿其神韻。整器胎體厚重，造形巨大挺拔，端莊古樸，沿用上古禮器之標準，用料貴重，掐絲工整細膩，圖案豔麗絕倫，足見皇家氣象，作為觀賞器完美傳世，殊為難得。
本品出自Sydney L. Moss 早期收藏，流傳有序，極為珍貴。Sydney L. Moss Ltd. 創立於1910 年，經歷超過一世紀的經營，不論在中國藝術品或是日本古物方面，都是倫敦首屈一指的重要古董商，更是廣受好評的中國古董藝術指標。
