A Victorian sterling silver inkstand, London 1844 by Charles Thomas Fox and George Fox
Of rectangular form upon four scroll feet with acanthus leaf junctions, three pierced galleried sides with undulating gadrooned rim. Twin pen recesses between three affixed trapezoid pierced inkwell cages. The central one with an unusual silver capped bottom accessed spout. The central cage surmounted by a detachable taper chamberstick of square form with removable sconce and conical snuffer. The side inkwell cages with hinged lids surmounted by cast figures of demi-putto in thought. Fully marked and part-marked throughout.
