A George III and William IV sterling silver coconut cup and cover, the mounts London 1791 by Thomas Phipps and Edward Robinson
The carved coconut with silver rim and three pad feet with shell junctions. The body with carved foliage emerging from plant pots, centred with a twin headed bird, the reverse with birds over a heart, applied with a cartouche plaque engraved with initials CN to ES 1837. Fitted with a later lid, London 1836 by WE, domed with embossed foliate decoration surmounted by a pyriform rocaille finial. Marked to rim, lion passant to each foot one with additional makers mark, part-marks to the lid bezel.
