A mid - 19th century Chinese Export silver rose water sprinkler, Canton circa 1850 retailed by Mun Kee
Qing Dynasty, Of conventional bulbous form upon a circular foot. The detachable upper section terminating in a stylised flower head. The body with chased decoration of birds amidst foliage. The body with later etched inscription in Hindi. Marked underneath with retailer’s mark MK and artisan mark HUANG éš.
Height – 28.2 cm / 11.15 inches
Weight – 248 grams / 7.97 ozt
This is an artisan mark that appears on first half 19th century silver that in the form it always appears, does not exist as an actual Chinese character; HUANG éš has been deduced to be the correct format and actually equates to an artisan surname that appears with Hoaching and Khe Cheong.
