(6) items including Tuareg style takouba sword from Mali, Tuareg style takouba dagger, (2) Tuareg style arm daggers having crocodile skin and leather sheaths, curved sword having numerous spike-like protrusions along both sides of blade and Binga / Nzakara style sickle sword having wire-wrapped wood handle
Provenance: The Estate of George 'Yorgo' Demetrakopoulos; professor, assistant director of the Medieval Institute and assistant to the dean at Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, Michigan from 1965-2000
Property from: a Kalamazoo, Michigan estate
Length: 24 1/8 inches, Width: 1 1/2 inches (takouba sword, tip to pommel (longest))
Condition: Very Good to Fair, overall light to moderate wear consistent with age, material and normal use; light to heavy oxidation on blades; takouba sword loose in handle and having losses to handle adornments and lacking scabbard; an arm dagger sheath having losses to leather including arm band portion; arm dagger with fully in tact sheath having area of missing adornment on handle and areas of surface rust on blade; curved sword and sickle sword lacking scabbards; wear to handles including scuffs, scratches, missing adornments, loosening wire; wear to blades including pitting, bends and chips; curved sword having break to part of a spike
