This uniform includes (1) fully decorated jacket with rank insignias on sleeves, pins on epaulets, baby blue braid around right shoulder, bars and pins on left breast pocket, rifleman pins, and "Gump" name tag, (1) black neck tie, (1) pair of trousers, (1) khaki long-sleeve shirt, (1) military hat, and (1) belt. The shirt, tie, and belt have United American Costume and Motion Picture Costume Co. labels, and the costume comes with a bag from the costume company. The lot includes a letter of provenance from a collector and movie historian which states in part, "I bought this costume and others from a company that acquired many of the costumes after filming. Tom Hanks' military costume was sourced from two different suppliers in Hollywood because they needed multiples for the shoot. Mr Hanks wore this particular costume during the walking scene with 'Jenny' in Washington D.C." This piece comes from one of the most beloved films of the 1990s and arguably of the 20th century. The film was an enormous success as the top-grossing film in North America released in that year, earning over $677 million worldwide during its theatrical run. It won the Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Visual Effects and Best Film Editing, and also garnered multiple other awards and nominations, including Golden Globes, People's Choice Awards and Young Artist Awards.
