Comprising a mask mounted on a wood stand with a silver plaque inscribed Dolores del Rio Dib. M. Covarrubias and a stylized monkey on wood stand; greatest height 4 3/4in (12cm).

Miguel Covarrubias (Mexican, 1904-1957) was a Mexican painter, caricaturist, illustrator, ethnologist art historian, known for his analysis of the Olmec civilization.
This portrait head was possibly designed by Miguel Covarrubias and created by William Spratling to depict Dolores del RÃo.
