"Arctic Explorations: The Second Grinnell Expedition in Search of Sir John Franklin, 1853, '54, '55" by Elisha Kent Kane, two volumes, Philadelphia, Childs & Peterson, 1856. Blindstamped brown cloth with gilt titles, fold out maps, engraved illustrations. Bindings poor, some water staining and toning to contents. Provenance: From the Collection of William F Bergen, D.O. It was assembled during the years 1991-1996 when he, his wife and stepdaughter lived and worked amongst the Yupâ€™ik Eskimos of Western Alaska. He wrote of their experience in the book, â€œWe took to the Tundra”.
