Description
A BRONZE FIGURE OF LAKSHMI NARASIMHA
India, 16th - 17th century. Cast as a four-handed Lakshmi Narasimha seated on a stepped square base beneath the seven-headed canopy of snake heads, holding various attributes in his hands.

Condition: With expected wear and casting irregularities as well as small nicks and dents here and there, few losses. The goddess Lakshmi seated on the left lap lost.
Provenance: Formerly in the Collection of the Krook Family. Sten Krook (1920-2009) and his mother Xenia Krook (1892-1988) shared a common interest in travelling and collecting Asian bronze figures. They conducted several journeys together to China, India, Nepal, Hong Kong and Thailand, during the 1930 till the 1980's. They had a broad collection ranging from medieval sculptures up until late 19th century from countries such as China, Tibet, Nepal, India and Japan. Many of them were sold at auction in Stockholm in 2014.
