A SMALL JAIN BRASS FIGURE OF BAHUBALI
India, 15th - 16th century. Depicted standing nude in kayotsarga, erect and with both arms straight down the sides, reflecting the Jain doctrine of non-violence and rejecting worldly possessions. The figure has been softened from being used as a hand charmer over centuries and bears a fine smooth patina. With an associated recent wood base.
Condition: Good condition with old wear, few minute nicks and a fine naturally grown patina overall.
