A SANDTONE FRAGMENT OF AN APSARA, BAYON STYLE, ANGKOR PERIOD
Khmer Empire, late 12th to 13th century. Finely carved with the head of an apsara, her serene face with almond-shaped eyes and full lips, flanked by long pendulous ears suspending earrings. Mounted to an associated base.
Condition: Good condition, commensurate with age. Extensive wear, signs of weathering and erosion, losses.
Provenance: Private collection, Belgium, acquired in the French trade.
