AN OVAL AGATE INTAGLIO SET 'PEGASUS' GOLD PENDANT
The seal Ancient region of Gandhara, c. 6th - 7th century, the gold setting later c. 18th century. The pendant inset with an intaglio, engraved with a Pegasus within a gold mounting with a cord-shaped border and a loop for suspension. The reverse with two birds in a hexagonal frame.

Provenance: The collection of The Zelnik Istvan Southeast Asian Gold Museum. Institutional art collection in Belgium, acquired from the above. Dr. Istvan Zelnik, President of the Hungarian South and Southeast Asian Research Institute, is a former high-ranking Hungarian diplomat who spent several decades in Southeast Asia, building the largest known private collection of Asian art in Europe.
Condition: Good condition, few nicks, the stone with some surface wear.
