A PAIR OF BALUSTER SATSUMA VASES, MEIJI PERIOD
Japan, 1868-1912. Of baluster shape, elaborately decorated with a dense floral background and ornamental bands in gold, reserves depicting scholars, rakan and samurai warriors. The recessed base with a Shoyama artist signature and Shimazu family crest.
Provenance: German private collection.
Condition: Very good condition with minor wear, a minuscule glaze chip to one upper rim.

Dimensions: Height 18.9 cm and 19.1 cm
