Purchased in 1936-7 from Cartier London as an engagement ring for the vendor's mother. The vendor's parents were married in July 1937.

The emerald is a vibrant and richly saturated medium green hue with excellent transparency. Some natural inclusions visible upon close inspection (a few displaying iridescence). Under 10 X magnification, a few abrasions visible around girdle and a small shallow chip to girdle/crown located near one claw. Some diamonds with a few inclusions/surface reaching inclusions visible under 10 X magnification. Unmarked/untested white metal with light surface wear. Evidence of resizing to base of band and old solder lines visible to junctions between underside of gallery/upper band. Overall in good condition.
