"Mar Gretta [Cocking] was a modernist painter, as well as a poet. She authored the book, My?Story of Art in the Black Hills (1965), as well as five volumes of poetry: From My Roots: Verses (1960); Hen Tracks: Verses (1967); Cocky Doodles: Verses (1965); Black Hills High?Lights: Verses (1967); and Campus Lore: Verses (1968). She also served as editor and publisher of the local poetry journal, West River Verses (1960-1972)." - Black Hills State University.
