A Very Fine Chinese Canton Enamel Teapot and Warming Stand
Qing dynasty (1644-1912), Qianlong period (1736-1796), very finely hand painted with scenes of Chinese lohans in a continuous landscape, teapot has original bronze handle with bamboo wrap, warming stand is raised on elegant arched legs with shell feet, accompanied by copy of receipt from E. J. Frankel, Ltd.
HOA 14 1/2 in.
Purchased from E. J. Frankel, Ltd., New York in 1997.
This teapot form was styled after a George II silver kettle. These exquisitely painted enameled teapots were imported from China through the East India Companies during the 18th century, however very few examples with original warming stands exist today.

Overall good estate condition; wear and loss to bamboo wrapping on handle; bronze handle with patina; some light scattered scratches and cracking to surface; some surface discoloration; small areas of restoration to right of spout and to side of one foot; some slight nicks to warming stand with scattered light scratches and cracking to surface; expected wear and loss for age to shaped handle and shell feet.
