Description
North America, United States, New York, ca. early 20th century CE. A milk glass and brass oil lamp font burner known as "The Twilight," the shade ring stamped with the name and the burner knob is marked "P & A Mfg. Co. Acorn" (Plume & Atwood). This candle shaped unit was probably once part of a Tiffany Studios lamp - please see the extended description for more information. The peg shaped reservoir is a milky white hue with pulled green feather or leaf patterning, and a brass fitting on the tip to fit into a stand socket. The brass burner lifts off easily to refill the lamp, and the adjuster knob for the cotton wick still operates perfectly. Size: 8.5" L x 2.25" W (21.6 cm x 5.7 cm)
Tiffany Studios manufactured bases and shades out of Favrile glass and assembled boudoir lamps using Plume & Atwood's "The Twilight" burner units patented in 1894. To see a complete lamp from the Tiffany Studios with this burner, please see the New York Historical Society Museum & Library website, inventory number: INV.2183a-d
