Native American, Northwestern United States, Alaska, Inuit or Yupik peoples, Thule and Pre-Contact period, ca. 1200 to 1700 CE. A rare effigy idol of a miniature size, hand-carved from walrus tusk ivory. He stands upright on delineated legs, a simplified body with shallow grooves to indicate arms, and a head with incised linear features like eyes, brows, lips, and a nose on a flattened face. Size: 3.75" L x 1.25" W (9.5 cm x 3.2 cm); 4.75" H (12.1 cm) on included custom stand.

This is an ESA antique exempt piece of ivory and cannot be sold internationally or to anyone residing in the states of California, Hawaii, Illinois, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, and Washington. We guarantee that the piece was made prior to 1972.
