Description
A Kava (yaqona) Bowl Fiji, c. 19th century Heavy hardwood (intsia bijuga - a type of teak) wide flaring bowl on four tapering legs, the whole with a rich brown color and natural high polish. This is quite large at 25 ½ inches diameter. It has the V-shaped lug with perforations with remains of a braided sennit cord loop. In very good condition, four hairline cracks. Provenance: A Private Collection, New York, NY, acquired in 1991 Lance Entwistle, London Diameter: 25 ½ inches
