Description

This beautiful antique Turkish Oushak rug has mellowed with time to develop soft colors and tones that add an earthiness and tranquility to any space. The features of this soft antique Turkish rug are now rendered in a beautiful tone on tone design, still there but now more subtle. One can only imagine the stories that this antique rug would tell if it could talk.

In a way, this antique decorative rug does talk. It features a very faded antique tree of life design with its branches gracefully sweeping skyward, still surrounded by the formal border that defines the space and adds its own artistic character. The tree of life is a symbol that spans many different cultures and geographic areas. The origin of the tree of life design is unclear, but it has threaded its way through many different religions and cultures throughout the world.

Even though there are subtle differences in in the traditions surrounding the tree of life, it is agreed that it is a symbol of creation and the events that led to everything in existence.
