Description
**First Time At Auction**
Native American, United States, Iroquois & Plains Tribes, Sioux, ca. early 20th century CE. A pair of beaded leather and cloth items: a Sioux pouch and a decorative Iroquois pin cushion with the year "1924" beaded into the cloth. The cushion has a brown cotton front with beaded tassels and a silk backing- stuffed with wood chips, perhaps scented as potpourri. The pouch is lane stitched (also known as lazy stitched) with hundreds of seed beads on the front and flap closure, with a suspension cord threaded through the verso with a wooden toggle, probably used as a "strike-a-light" bag. Size (Sioux pouch): 5.75" L x 3.75" W (14.6 cm x 9.5 cm)

Condition
Fraying and perforation to pincushion cloth as shown. Fraying to threads and losses to bead tassels. Leather pouch is stiff but flap closure opens and beadwork is intact and excellent.
