Nahum Tschacbasov New York (1899 - 1984) untitled abstract figure portrait, 1943 oil pastel crayon on paper inscribed "to Rita", signed and dated lower right in pencil. From his NY Times Obituary: Nahum Tschacbasov was a Russian- born painter, teacher and poet. Mr. Tschacbasov's work is in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Brooklyn Museum, the Jewish Museum and the Whitney Museum of American Art. He formed his own school of fine arts in Woodstock, N.Y., and also taught at the Art Students League.
