William Elstob Marshall, British, fl.1859 to 1880, watercolor painting on paper depicting a scene with a salesman with a covered wagon, 1873. Signed and dated lower left. Framed. Provenance: Thos Cornell Galleries, NY, United States, May 26, 2018, lot 301. William Marshall is a British artist known for Animal and rustic subject painting. He painted mostly in oils, depicting animals and rustic subjects, inspired by his time living in both Somerset and Scotland. He later settled in Haverstock Hill, London. Marshall exhibited at the Royal Academy between 1859 and 1880, and also at the British Institute. One of a kind artwork.
Dimensions: Frame 20 1/4 x 26 1/2 in. Plate 15 5/8 x 21 3/4 in. All measurements are approximate.
Condition
Overall good vintage condition. Signs of age and wear. Yellowing, scuffs, damage at edges and corners. No glass. Refer to photos. Sold As Is.
