Description

Juan Carlos Alom Jimenez, born in Havana Cuba 1964. Phot from the series Periodo Especial, 1989 to 1992. The photo was hand printed in the darkroom of the National Phototheca Of Cuba in the year 1993 by the artist himself. The print has a handwritten letter from the artist to the Cuban artist Conrado Maleta' dated 1994 starting with: To my Aristocratic Son. The model in the photo is the well known artist and actress Cirenaica Moreira. Juan Carlos Alom is regarded among the 100 Most Important Photographers of Latin America. Juan Carlos Alom, is one of the most outstanding Cuban artists in the fields of photography and documentary and experimental filmmaking. His work, along with that of other great Cuban artists, participates in the generational impulse of the 1990s, committed to oxygenate the old discourses and aesthetic presuppositions of the genre.
