Antique Rare green jade Qin chime or Gong. The Chinese spinach-green jade plaque carved in shape of irregular musical jade stone gong (Qin), is a ministerial emblem and a symbol of the exercise of discrimination and of felicity, one of The Eight Precious Things, also known as the Eight Treasures, or babao in Chinese, are auspicious symbols of good fortune. The nephrite green jade stone is decorated on both sides with shallow relief with gilt Chinese characters inscriptions surrounded by vigorous five claws imperial dragons chasing the flaming pearls amidst dense of fume clouds and flaming ruyi. Dragon is the symbol of the Emperor, the Son of Heaven, eternity, Yang and Yin, male vigor and fecundity, the Li-Shui wave pattern which is known to be the abode of dragons. Pearls have been found in Chinese freshwater rivers from ancient times. The shiny translucent quality has long been associated with the moon. Legends consider pearls to originate from the moon which is sometimes known as ‘night shining pearl’. A pearl was once placed in the mouth of the deceased. Dragons are often shown chasing a pearl from the legend that the phases of the moon are due to a dragon eating it. In this case the pearl may represent wisdom. As the pearl lies hidden inside an unprepossessing dark shell of a mussel, it also symbolizes hidden beauty or talent. It is one of the eight jewels of Buddhism, in this form it may be surrounded with flames to denote its magical powers. The jade chime tablet supported and held by elaborately open works framed carved hardwood frame stand in floral foliate motif. is an extremely dense wood which sinks in water. It is a member of the rosewood family and is botanically classified in the Pterocarpus genus. The lumber is blackish-purple in hue, and its fibers are loaded with deep red pigments which have been used for dye throughout the ages. The entirety is encased in amazing relief carving which gives this box a captivating appearance. Elegancy come with tall hardwood stand carved with scrolling ruyi and Auspicious motif on the foot base rim. The Elaborately carved hardwood frame perfectly accentuates this work of art. The nephrite jade shows spinach-green color with shades of darker inclusions, with moist milky appearance. The Expert workmanship is the absolute highlight of this gorgeous nephrite jade screen, a portion of this natural jade is considered quite rare.
