Item Details

Description

German (1820-1865). A fine lithographic set depicting views of Virginia by German artist Beyer from 1854-1856. An incomplete set, consisting of ten various color lithographs depicting various view of Virginia. A composite set with plates of various dimensions. Housed in a black leather bound cover titled "Album of Virginia" by Edward Beye, 1858.

From the estate and lifelong collection of William Garrett Hodges (1946-2014). Hodges was a Virginia-based dealer of fine arts, with specialization in prints and rare books, having collected for decades. He supplied and consulted various groups on antiquities throughout his career, including the White House, the Vice President's residence, the FBI, and multiple film and television series.

Condition

Many of the lithographs have foxing, some corners missing. Most images are in good condition overall
