Description
Earl Swanigan (American, 1964-2019), acrylic on thin plywood, large format painting: one side depicting anthropomorphic David and Goliath in battle, just as David is about to make his killing shot to the giant, signed in pencil along the ground to the right of David; second side depicting a ghostly female figure, flanked and petted by two shadowy, anthropomorphic figures resembling a donkey (or rabbit) and a cat, all against a gold background, signed and dated in Sharpie l.r.: 30 1/3" x 39 1/4" board, unframed. Swanigan was a noted Outsider artist from Hudson, NY. This painting comes from the collection of a close friend and collector of Earl's who is featured in a documentary about him.
Condition
Perforations and losses to the board typical of Swanigan's work as he exclusively utilized salvaged supplies. Otherwise good.
