2 Rare American Folk Art Quilts, Early 20th C.Including baby quilt made from Jim Dandy Hominy Grits cotton sacks and Cigar Wrapper Quilt made from the silk ribbons used to bundle and package cigars in the late 19th C. Women were encouraged through literature distributed by the tobacco companies to use the silk ribbons that contained the brand name or number of the cigars to make home items such as quilts. Size: 1) 20.75'' x 21'', 53 x 53 cm; 2) 37.75'' x 37'', 96 x 94 cm.Matt/George--cigar quilts such as this retail in the 3000 range--may be best to sell separately or start higher. I found 1 comp for the Jim Dandy quilt and it was retail 350 so pretty sure we would be fine and possibly better off selling separately.
