Description
Peruvian Embroidered Fiesta Apron. Decorated with floral imagery, a naval masted ship and inscribed with name: Miguel Grau above his portrait. Grau was the most renowned Peruvian naval officer and hero of the Naval Battle of Angamos during the War of the Pacific (1879–1884). Estate of Joseph Knopfelmacher. Before focusing on Africa, Knopfelmacher traveled in Central and South America seeking arts and crafts he could export. During this time, in the mid 1960's he visited Peru. Size: 41'' x 24'', (104 x 61 cm).
