Due to controversy over the preponderance of Dali forgeries which entered the art market during the 1970s and 80s an official catalog of Dali’s works became a necessity by the early 1990s, and Field’s work is considered to be the definitive text separating forgeries from real pieces of art by Salvador Dali.
