Description
Chinese Tang Dynasty (6th-9th century AD) or Ming Dynasty (1368-1644 AD) earthenware tomb guardian sculpture with green, lead glaze on the figure's robe, and a detachable head retaining traces of flesh-toned pigment, the warrior seated on a horse standing on a rectangular base, having no apparent marks. Provenance: From the Private Collection of Ruth West, Atlanta, Georgia. Approx: h. 11.75", d. 10", d. 3.5".
Condition
Break at collar with 1/8" loss, detachable head possibly later, 1/8" chip in glaze on reigns, and (1) fleabite in the same area.
