Description
Late 18th-early 19th century, mixed woods. Turned legs and "H" stretcher. Later black paint. Arms have repair and some loss. 16.5" seat, 36.5"h.
Condition
Pieced and puttied repairs at bend in continuous arms with some edge flaking and loss where posts were reattached (not replaced). One rod on right side is loose, center rod has added nail and there is a split with small flake along top of crest. Center stretcher has nailed and glued repairs, stretchers have some wear and loss. Front right leg has minor split, two left legs have old holes (? heavy paint fill) and possibly reset stretcher. Heavy black paint makes it difficult to determine other repairs. Some earlier paint shows on bottom including red and green (?). Minor edge loss to leg turnings, wear on arms.
