Commemorates the 1898 visit of the German Kaiser to Palestine.
Obverse: Kaiser and Kaiserin portraits facing right, inscribed: GEDENKTHALER ZUR PALASTINAFAHRT DES DEUTSCHEN KAISERPAARES (Commemorative thaler of the Palestine journey of the German Kaiser couple).Â
Reverse: depiction of baby Jesus in the center, inscribed: ZUR EINWEIHUNG DER EVANG. ERLOSERKIRCHE IN JERUSALEM / ENDE OKTOBER 1898 (To the sanctification of the Church of the Redeemer in Jerusalem, late October 1898).

Kaiser Wilhelm built the church, and when he and his wife, Augusta Victoria, dedicated it, they became the first Western rulers to visit Jerusalem.
