Description

Carved from Buffalo hide and hand painted Wayang Kulit or "Shadow Puppet" . Representing a demon like character, The Puppet was used to entertain preforming dramatic stories such as episodes from the Hindu epics the Ramayana and the Mahabharata, as well as local adaptations of cultural legends. A very old and traditionally used example collected in Indonesia by Ira Marks prior to 1984. There is no display stand included. The Puppet Measures 26.5 x 13 inches.
