Native American, United States but originating in Europe, Crow, Iroquois, Navajo, and more, ca. 16th to 19th century CE. A beautiful selection of Native American trade beads made from glass, shell, bone, copper, steatite, amber, turquoise, animal tooth, or animal claw. Each bead or group of beads is labeled with the form as well as the dates ranging anywhere from 1550 to 1890. Highlights of this ensemble are a petite beadwork patch with remains of a blue figure, colorful mosaic beads from Venice, wire wound amber beads, and a spherical bead made from sticky pitch and turquoise chips.
