After graduating, Soto moved to Paris on a grant, where he connected with the Nouveau Réalistes (New Realists), and with Yaacov Agam, Jean Tinguely, and Victor Vasarely. Soto's work became interested abstraction, as well as concepts of kineticism and kinetic environments. By 1955, Soto’s name is recognized as a leading figure in the Kenetic art movement, with his participation in the ground-breaking group exhibition “Le mouvement (The Movement).” The exhibition was held by Galerie Denise René and included the works of Jesús Rafael Soto, Alexander Calder, Marcel Duchamp, Yaacov Agam, Pol Bury, Jean Tinguely, and Victor Vasarely.
Jesús work is included in many permanent collections of major institutions, such as Tate (London), Museum Ludwig (Germany), Art Museum of the Americas (Washington, DC), Centre Georges Pompidou (Paris), Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna (Roma), and MoMA (New York).
